Description

Chemstations provides process simulation software solutions for chemical engineering professionals. Their flagship product, CHEMCAD, is a comprehensive suite of tools designed to model, simulate, and optimize chemical processes. With a user-friendly interface and a wide range of features, CHEMCAD enables engineers to perform rigorous thermodynamic calculations, create heat and mass balances, design and analyze equipment, and simulate dynamic behavior. It offers an extensive library of components and unit operations, including reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, and more. With CHEMCAD, engineers can improve process efficiency, optimize plant operations, and make informed decisions in various industries, including oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and renewable energy.

CHEMCAD is used by chemical engineers in academia and industry for steady-state or dynamic simulation of chemical engineering units such as reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, and more. Every unit has built-in equations, connecting the units to represent mass and energy flow between the units. It is also used for the design/sizing of the equipment, cost calculations, and thermodynamics calculations. Application areas include bio-processing, chemical processing, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, utilities, and power.

The product includes the VBA SDK. A CHEMCAD simulation can call a MATLAB® function through a VBA unit operation, which can represent a single unit operation within a CHEMCAD flowsheet. The VBA code reads values from the flowsheet and sends inputs in matrix form to MATLAB, which then returns outputs to VBA and assigns values to streams and unit operations in CHEMCAD.

The product can send information to and from Excel® during calculations without requiring users to write any VBA code. Excel can also act as the bridge between CHEMCAD and MATLAB.
