Physical Channels
Physical channels correspond to sets of time-frequency resources used for transmission of particular transport channel content, control information, or indicator information. Each transport channel is mapped to a corresponding physical channel. The red outline contains LTE Toolbox™ uplink functionality for physical channels, transport channels, and control information.
Physical Channel | Description |
---|---|
PUSCH — physical uplink shared channel | The PUSCH carries RRC signaling messages, UCI (uplink Control Information), and application data. |
PUCCH Format 1 — physical uplink control channel format 1 | The PUCCH format 1 is used to carry uplink control information (UCI) pertaining to scheduling requests and HARQ. |
PUCCH Format 2 — physical uplink control channel format 2 | The PUCCH format 2 is used to carry uplink control information (UCI) pertaining to CQI and HARQ. |
PUCCH Format 3— physical uplink control channel format 3 | The PUCCH format 3 is used to carry uplink control information (UCI) pertaining to scheduling requests and HARQ. PUCCH format 3 can support up to five carriers. |
PRACH — physical random access channel | The PRACH is used to carry random access preambles used for initiation of random access procedure. |
