Is there a way to provide a proxy setting to the MATLAB Help Desk? I am unable to access the on-line Help Desk since I am behind a firewall.

This enhancement has been made for Release 14 (R14). For previous product releases, please read below for any possible workarounds:

As a workaround, you can try modifying where the main MATLAB Help Desk loads by:

1. Opening 'helpdesk.m' which is located in:

$MATLAB\toolbox\matlab\general

where $MATLAB is your root MATLAB directory.

2. Replace Line 9, which reads as follows:

doc;

with the following line of code:

!$NETSCAPE\Program\netscape.exe $MATLAB\help\helpdesk.html

where $NETSCAPE is your root Netscape directory and $MATLAB is your root MATLAB directory.
