I would like to know if there are any patches, or special installation instructions, needed in order to install MATLAB on Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther).

MATLAB 7.2 (R2006a), MATLAB 7.0 (R14) as well as MATLAB 6.5.1 (R13SP1) are supported on Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther).
NOTE: MATLAB 6.5 Release 13 Professional version is not supported on Mac OS 10.3. For information on upgrading to MATLAB 6.5.1 (R13SP1), contact Customer Service.
There is now a patch available that allows:
- MATLAB 6.5 (R13) to run under Mac OS 10.2 with Apple’s X11 for Mac OS X
- MATLAB 6.5.1 (R13SP1) to run under Mac OS 10.3 (Panther) or Mac OS 10.2 (Jaguar) with Apple’s X11 for Mac OS X
- MATLAB Student Version 6.5 (R13) to run under Mac OS 10.3 (Panther) or Mac OS 10.2 (Jaguar) with Apple’s X11 for Mac OS X
NOTE: Mac OS 10.3 users must use X11 for Mac OS X, which is included in the Mac OS upgrade. To install X11 for Mac OS X, you must select Custom Install during the Mac OS upgrade process. You can install X11 for Mac OS X over XDarwin, but if you prefer to remove XDarwin and OroborOSX from your system, see Removing (Uninstalling) a MATLAB Installation in Installation Guide for Mac OS X.

In order to download the patch and installation instructions, download both the MathWorks_Panther_Updater.dmg and Panther-X11_Installation_Instructions.pdf from the bottom of this solution.
