How do I check for updates using MATLAB?

I would like to know if it is possible to check for product updates within MATLAB.

In MATLAB R2016a and later:
  1. Open MATLAB.
  2. Click "Add-ons" in the toolstrip
  3. Click "Check for product updates"
In MATLAB R2015b and earlier:
  1. Open MATLAB.
  2. Click 'Help' under the MATLAB menu options.
  3. Click 'Check for Updates'.
