How can I import Matlab data to XML file ?

Hi everyone,
I need to create an XML file containing data (numerical and strings) from a script I made. I began to use the function xmlwrite to create the file but I can't put data in it. I'm a noob with XML things so if someone has the solution for me that would be nice !

PS : I have the obligation to use the basic Matlab version, no plugin nor toolbox.
