Random number with a large range?

I am simulating planetary motion, and I want to have an input for 'n' random planets. I want the planets to have a large range for each of the criteria ie, x_position is between -1e12 - 1e12. how can i do this??

Bob, I think you want to look at Example 1 in the doc for the rand function:
