Makerzone support for linux platforms?

I'm running an Ubuntu distro which supports the Matlab student version and recently discovered the "makerzone" program. I am extremely interested in getting Matlab and my Arduino to interact, but to my horror and dismay, the arduino support package will not work on Linux, nor will any of the others! When can I expect compatability between Arduino and Ubuntu at the very least, and with all other available packages such as the Raspberry Pi or the BeagleBoard?
