Removing selective data from matlab plot by date

Hi all, I have a matlab plot of sensor data over time. Some of the peaks need to be removed from the data because we were fixing our sensors but they were still reading. I can locate those peaks on the map visually but I would like to know the start and end dates for those peaks. Is there a way that I can find those exact dates from the plot?
Then, I would like to linearly connect those gaps using the average of the number before and after the gap. Thank you!
