surf 3D edge marking

Hi guys,
I'm making a 3D figure of a bundle of cylinders. See figure.
I am 99% there. I want to outline the edges (the plane of circles) so that people can clearly visualize where the cross section cut was made to the bundle.
I can't find the setting to do this! Please help! Thanks in advance.
