Detect colors of smaller sizes?

Hi all! I am trying to detect and track colors. The colored squares of size 1cmx1cm are getting detected in a resolution of 640x360 are getting tracked. But the colored squares of size 0.5x0.5 is not getting detected in the same resolution. If I minimize the resolution it might get detected but I would like to detect them in this 640x360 resoltuion. Can you please help me figure it out ?
Also, I was wondering if whether the camera calibration is applicable only to the mages of same resolution at which the camera was calibrated.

If your object is so small that it's barely resolved, it won't have the correct color. Let's say at high resolution you have an edge that is white on one side and red on the other side. But let's say that at low resolution you have a big pixel that straddles the edge. It averages together the red and white and will think the pixel is pink instead of half white and half red.
