Problem in exporting graph

I have created a 2 D surface plot using length as x axis,date and time as y axis and temperature as Z axis using Imagesc. I have used the following lines to convert the display of Y axis as real date and time.
set(gca,'YTick',realdate) datetick('y', 'dd/mm HH:MM')
The problem arises when I try to set the limit for Y axis and save the plot to TIFF or PNG file. The resultant file is just blank one only with axis and color bar visible. Glad, if some one could help.

Be careful, length, date are all MATLAB functions. Try not to use them as your variable name.
