Problem plotting date from excel file

Hi, I am having trouble plotting date (as my x axis) from an excel file. My date format is as follow: '6/16/2014 04:00:00 PM' I need to plot my data over time. Can anyone please tell me what function i must use to convert that date in to an acceptable format?
