Can the bandpower function coupled with power spectral density, psd in MATLAB be converted to dB by finding the 10log of the bandpower?

HI everyone,
Please I want to determine the a particular frequency intensity of an acoustic signal in dB using the bandpower function coupled with power spectral density, psd (p = bandpower(pxx,f,freqrange,'psd'). What I have done is to determine the power in a frequency band (let say 3000-3001 Hz) and find the 10*log10 of that power. I would like to know if this could represent the frequency intensity in dB?
