eigen vectors and values algorithm

i need to know the algorithm by which matlab (or generally how can i) calculate the eigen values and vectors of a Non Symmetric matrix , i need the numeric algorithm to try to implement it in C

Matlab uses BLAS and LAPACK.
If you want to know the actual implementation, then you should ask the Mathworks. They might not be so forthcoming in exposing the guts of Matlab though...
Note that both BLAS and LAPACK can be linked in a C program, so you'd just be reinventing the wheel.
