How to use new learning algorithm for training ANN other than predefined algorithms (like FFBP)

hi,
i have generated a pattern recognition network for my project using the predefined learning algorithms like 'trainlm'..etc.
now i want to use other(new) techniques like PSO, RBF, extreme learning machine.. etc for training my network.. is it possible to do so by writing code in .m file? can i use my own transfer function for learning algorithm?
