Is there an efficient way to figure out if a matrix is dependent or linearly independent?
perhaps a function or something?

Linear independence and linear dependence are
not matrix properties. They are properties of
its rows and columns.
I use both rank and cond (condition number) when
determining the degree of multicollinearity within
a matrix.
