f coefficient in PDEtool: exponential function of state.u

Hi,
I am currently working on solving a pde imposing c coefficient as an exponential function of the unknow and the location, as below:
cCoef= @(location,state) k.*(exp(state.u-location.y));
specifyCoefficients(model,'m',0,'d',0,'c',cCoef,'a',0,'f',0);
However, when I run the code it does not to consider the exponential relationship.
I could not find any question answering this problem, only addressing how to write a coefficent dependent only on location or only on the unknow.
