How i can read Red channel in 3 RGB Image

I have RGB Image and I work in Image steganography
I want to read Juct Red channel ,I want to make the 2LSB in Red channel as Indicator
How I Can do that

This is how you can get the red channel
% an RGB image
rgbpict = imread('peppers.png');
% just the red channel
R = rgbpict(:,:,1);
Or you can use imsplit if you also want the others
[R G B] = imsplit(rgbpict);
To get get specific bits, you can use bitget() or basic tools like mod() or rem().
