How can I use optimization algorithms in Matlab, applied on a code in Visual C#?

I have a program written in Visual C# in which I created an environment for different optimization algorithms. Now only the optimization code itself is missing. I heard there is a way to connect Visual C# and Matlab code via COM-Interface, so that I am able to run the C# program with a chosen optimization code of Matlab. How is that possible?
