Piece-wise Linear Transfer Function

Hi,
I need to define a custom piece-wise linear transfer function. It will have a control parameter in addition to the input. How do I define and use this control parameter in my function. I tried to copy and modify the logsig.m file. I'm not able get if I shoulf use param argument and how to use it to define my control parameter.
