How to add time in text command?

I have started the tic before loop and in the loop I want my code to show the elapsed time so I want to use toc in my text command. How can I use it? I coded like this but this does not work.
text('String','Time:num2str(toc)','Position',[0 2700]);

This should work:
td = toc;
text('String','Time:num2str(td)','Position',[0 2700]);
