Query about data types and whos

Hi,
I have a variable flights_2011 and when I run the command whos it says it is a double array of size 1x35040 however the size command gives it as 1x12. I am also having trouble writing to xls which I imagine is related. Any ideas?
whos flights_2011 size flights_2011
joining_point_2011=reshape(median_jp_per_hour_2011,1,[]);
flights_2013=reshape(flights_prpdph_2013,1,[]);
joining_point_2013=reshape(median_jp_per_hour_2013,1,[]);

Size is working properly. It is telling you that there are TWELVE characters in the string 'flights_2011'.
size(flights_2011) will return [1 35040]
35040 is the number of columns. Excel has 16384 IIRC, and it therefore won't accept 35040 columns of data.
If you simply transpose flights_2011, it'll fill 35040 of excel 95's 65536 rows
