why do i get ylabel error?

The error shown, that the string is interpreted as an index leads me to believe that you have a variable named ‘ylabel’ and MATLAB is attempting to index into it.
The solution is to re-name the variable to something similar that makes sense in the context of the code and does not overshadow any MATLAB function names.
