how to define variable as persistence in stateflow ?

I observed that local variable retain the previous loop value but for generating autocode from stateflow. How local variable will be treated ? what property of the variable need to set to tell RTW that this local variable should be treated as persistent memory and these are not ? I don't want all variable to be treated as persistence for memory constrain prospective.
