I'm a little confused, but I'll take a stab.
MATLAB Drive is the file system used in MATLAB Mobile (and MATLAB Online). You say you see the files synced to your laptop via MATLAB Drive Connector, so that is good.
Any sharing is handled by MATLAB Drive, which allows you to share folders, not individual files, with individuals and groups. See the Sharing a folder using MATLAB Drive page for details. You can also share from your MATLAB Drive Folder within MATLAB (desktop or online versions).
