Matlab commands in Javascript: Failed to launch 'matlab:' (2019a)

I am following the nice demo in this link: https://blogs.mathworks.com/community/2009/06/22/interactive-web-pages-in-matlab-part-4/
I am given this error: Failed to launch 'matlab:t=linspace(0,1,100);plot(t,1*sin(t*2*pi*2),'b-');' because the scheme does not have a registered handler. This comes from the drawsine() function in the example on lines 4-14 of the script.
My understanding of the error is that my chrome browser doesn't know how to get to a matlab compiler to execute this command.

Hi Jason,
You got it right, the matlab protocol won't work on your browser. You need to start a browser inside the matlab environment using the web command. This is also mentioned in the tutorial you are following in part 1.
To address your issue, you can create the html file anywhere in your system and use matlab comand window to launch the browser with that file using web(filePath).
This should open a window similar to the one below.
