- In Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK), binary data x is transformed into two distinct signal phases and the mapping is given by
, which maps binary 0 to -1 and binary 1 to +1. This results in a signal where the phase (or polarity) is flipped between the two possible binary values. - In In Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK)/On Off Shift Keying (OOK), binary data x is directly mapped to amplitude levels i.e.,
maps to 0 (no signal) and 
maps to A (signal with amplitude A).This results in a signal where the presence or absence of the signal corresponds directly to the binary data.
