Matlab won't load

I had matlab installed on my company laptop with a floating license which stopped working when I came to Japan. I have a standalone license that I would like to apply to resolve this issue, but I do not know how. I tried downloading the standalone matlab, this took a very long time because my connection here is bad (2+ hours for 130MB). When I started the installation, it saw the already existing matlab, and overwriting the existing files would require 3GB+ which is not realistic for me to download on this connection. Selecting none, won't let me proceed. Is there a way to apply my standalone license to the existing version?

You need to generate the license file for your standalone license and use it to activate MATLAB.
