Export a 3d surface to .stl

I'm trying to esxtract a gyroid I generated on matlab into an .stl file. But it shows me this mistake "Error using stlwrite Input argument must be a triangulation object." Any Ideas on how to solve it? Thanks

Create STL file from triangulation - MATLAB stlwrite (mathworks.com)
Refer to the above link for creating stl file from triangulation object.
It has some examples as well.
