Equivalent of ctrl+D but at subsystem level

I would like to make some checks on my models (state machine with simulkink codes) and there are numerous block and subsystem. A model update is always long to perform, and only one error is spotted at a time.
Is there a way to do local updates?

Use model references!
Then you can even do parallel model reference builds to speed up compile time.
There is no way to compile just a plain subsystem alone, though.
