Is there any way that teacher/professor could check if the student really passed the course and got the real certificate or just photoshoped it?

What does a valid certificate look like? It's certainly conceivable that edits to an image file could be noticeable, but I don't know what a certificate looks like, whether blank certificate images can be easily found/generated, or what file format is used for valid certificates.

It is not possible to definitively verify whether a student has photoshopped a certificate using only MATLAB software. However, there are other ways to examine if a certificate is genuine or fake.

For example, some reputable online course providers use a verification system, where students/teachers/professor can enter their certificate details on the provider's website to verify its authenticity.
