how to smoothen this calor bar image

i have used imagesc function to plot 11x17 array. it looks like pxels. i want it to have smooth transition. how to do it

a = randn(n, n);
subplot(121); imagesc(x, y, a);
xlim([0 n-1]); ylim([0 n-1]);
subplot(122);
% interpolation
x1 = 0:.2:n-1;
y1 = 0:.2:n-1;
b = interp2(x, y, a, x1, y1');
imagesc(x1, y1, b);
xlim([0 n-1]); ylim([0 n-1]);
