Initializing values from workspace using embedded coder

I have a Simulink model that is currently using callbacks to enable the initialization of a number of variables and integrator initial states. Eventually this will be converted to C code using the Embedded coder, and I am not sure if using callbacks will pose a problem. After converting the code to C, I will want to change and manipulate these variables in the callbacks, so I am not sure if this will be possible.
