Installation after Windows reinstall

25 次查看(过去 30 天)
Hello,
I just want to be sure what to do to in order to avoid license issues. I have reinstalled my PC after a motherboard change 2 weeks ago and reactivated my Matlab license on this PC - worked fine. However, I discovered, that there is something wrong with my Windows installation. Therefore, I would like to do a clean installation of Win 11 again on that PC (no hardware changes) and thus, reinstall Matlab on it. Is there something to care when doing so? Do I need to deactivate the license first, or what is the proper way to do this?
Thanks a lot for your help,
Bernd

Hello Bernd,
I understand that you are seeking clarification on the necessary steps to ensure a smooth reactivation of your MATLAB license after reinstalling Windows and MATLAB, without encountering any licensing issues. Here's the general process you should follow:
  1. Uninstall MATLAB: Before you reinstall Windows, it is recommended (but not required) to uninstall MATLAB from your PC first. There is no need to deactivate the license first.
  2. Reinstall Windows: Go ahead and perform your clean installation of Windows 11.
  3. Reinstall MATLAB: After you have reinstalled Windows, you can reinstall MATLAB. To do this, download the installer from the MathWorks website, log in with your MathWorks Account that is associated with the license, and follow the prompts to install MATLAB.
  4. Activate MATLAB: During the installation process, you'll be asked to activate MATLAB. Use the same MathWorks Account and license number that you used previously.
Remember, MATLAB licenses are tied to your MathWorks Account, not to a specific PC or hardware. As long as you're using the same account and license number, you should be able to activate MATLAB on your PC after reinstalling Windows.
I hope this clears your doubt.
Best Regards,
Asim Asrar
