Matlab Sound timeout error

I am just trying to do a simple sound code to understand how it works
load gong.mat
sound(y)
But i get the following error
Sound
Error using sound
Timeout occurred while trying to communicate to the device.
Error in
Sound (line 2)
sound(y)

That is the error message you would get if you were trying to use sound() with MATLAB Online, or with MATLAB Answers. The browsers are not able to send commands to access your sound hardware in the right way.
(If I understand correctly, it could be theoretically implemented with Google Chrome, but not with any other browser -- unless that facility has been ported to Microsoft's Edge since it is based on Chromium.)
