Call other program from matlab

hi guys,
I have an assigment whereby i have a set of data in matlab that need to be plotted in the software Tecplot. A macro file and a layout file should be called in Tecplot so that i would get a certain plot.
Questions are:
- how do i call tecplot from matlab and run tecplot's macro automatically?

If you're working on Windows, one option is to use COM communication, for instance by creating an actxserver for tecplot in MATLAB:
t = actxserver('ProgID for tecplot')
