This is from the matalb documentation of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces. helperRISSurface is function or a structure ? how can i pass parameters?
i tried to rum this and i am getting error here. i have uploaded the screenshots

It is a helper function that is included with this example. On the upper right corner of the example page, use the 'Open in MATLAB Online' or copy and run the 'Copy Command' in your MATLAB Command window to download the example and supporting files to your MATLAB Instance.

Note that if you are running a version earlier than R2023b then the example does not exist.

If you are running R2023a or earlier, the example does not exist.
If you are running R2023b or later, then
openExample('phased/IntroductionToRISExample')
should work. There is, however, the possibility that you need to install documentational locally; see https://www.mathworks.com/help/install/ug/install-documentation-using-internet-connection.html

If you install the documentation locally, you can only access examples for products you have installed. If you use the online documenation, you can access any example.
The openExample workflow will download the example files to a local folder.
If you do not have version R2023b or newer installed but have access to MATLAB Online, use the Open in MATLAB Online option. It is always on the latest version. That wlil add the files to you MATLAB Drive.

As Walter pointed out, this example was introduced in R2023b. You will need that version of MATLAB to access it using the openExample command.
However, I don't see anything in the code that would prevent it from running in R2023a.

I suspect that "this ris" refers to the variable "ris" returned from helperRISSurface()
