[X,Y] = meshgrid(x,y) ;
Z = ones(size(X)) ;
surf(X,Y,Z,'edgecolor','none')
If you want it along y-axes.
x = linspace(0,1,35) ;
z = linspace(0,1,35) ;
[X,Z] = meshgrid(x,z) ;
Y = ones(size(X)) ;
surf(X,Y,Z,Y,'edgecolor','none')
