How do I make a permanent magnet synchronous machine behave as a generator when inputting speed and not torque?

I am trying to simulate a turbine generator that is controlled with an angular veloctiy input on simulink. The library location of the block is Simscape<Electrical<Specialized Power Systems<Electrical Machines<Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine. The documentation on the permanent magnet synchronous machine says that the block can be specified as a generator or motor using positive or negative torque input. But i'm not using a torque input - I'm using angular velocity. So is there a way I can make the PMSM act as a generator without a torque input? Thanks.

Hi Lydia
As per my understanding, instead of torque you would like to provide angular velocity as input to permanent magnet synchronous machine. This can be done by enabling the speed w port instead of Torque Tm port in the block parameters tab of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM).
For more information regarding the inputs to the PMSM, kindly refer the Input section in the following documentation.
I hope this helps.

Hi Shishir,
Thanks for your help. I am already inputting speed W into the block. Since asking this question i have realised my understanding of synchronous machines was not complete, and that it acts as both a generator and motor depending on voltage differences going into the terminals. Therefore it can't be set as either a generator or motor.
Thanks again for you time.
