We have one shared windows computer with Matlab installed and two users who wants to access and work with matlab not at the same time. Is this possible? if yes, how do I have to setup this solution?

The focus of this community is on technical topics. Business topics are best discussed with your sales representative. The reason for that is there are diffent answers to such question based on a few factors. One example is university vs. commercial.

You could do that in multiple ways:
  • you could use a single Concurrent license. The license manager would automatically block out the additional users as long as one user was using MATLAB. Concurrent licenses tend to be somewhat expensive. A disadvantage of concurrent licenses is that there is no good way to release the license from somewhat who is not actively using it (for example have gone off for a meeting while leaving MATLAB logged in.)
  • you could use a Dedicated Computer license. Dedicated computer licenses officially work for whoever is logged into the console of the computer. A few years ago, they relaxed the license terms to permit remote viewer type of access (such as Windows Remote Desktop or TeamViewer) as long as it is one remote connection at a time. However, there is disagreement within Mathworks about whether remote viewing falls within the license terms; my reading of the license is that it is permitted but some Mathworks employees disagree with me. I do not have any information about the relative cost of Dedicated Computer licenses.
