mpeg-2 or mpgv issue

Using VideoReader to try and import an mpg, I get the error:
The file requires the following codec(s) to be installed on your system: Unknown Codec
This appears to be a supported type, and I have used Matlab to read in many other movies including .mov! This movie is fine and will open in both WMP and VLC. I've tried installing codecs on my system for mpeg-2 but to no avail. Anybody have an answer to this or a codec which might work? Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem. I am using Windows. The MOV file was created on a MAC. I can play the MOV file (a brain scan) in Quicktime so obviously the CODEC that Quicktime uses must be on the PC. I converted the MOV file to an MP4 file, but got the same problem. ciaboni@yorku.ca
