Mask Parameter from input port

Is there a simple way to always get a specific mask parameter from an input port of a masked subsystem? I've read 2008 postings from Guy and Seth on dynamic mask programing options for this, but this much more than I need, and I'm missing the key part on how to add the port and access it. Thanks.
