How the selection function Remainder(@selectionremainder) works?

I've download the Global Optimization Toolbox User's Guide of R2011b. While I read the part of selection options of GA in Chapter 5 and Chapter 9, I found that the descriptions of selection function Remainder(@selectionremainder) are different. In Chapter 5, it says that Remainder use the fractional parts of the scaled values as in stochastic uniform selection.(5-74) In Chapter 9, it says that Remainder use the fractional parts of the scaled values as in roulette selection.(9-41) As far as I can see,that's different, could anybody do me a favor and expain this? That would be of great help and thanks you very much.
