How do I change the initial value and final value parameters in a step change in Simulink from an m-file?

The set_param('blockname','initial value','1') does not change the initial step value. Help!!

Hi @Gregory Bugli,
The 'initial value' parameter in the 'Step function' is called 'Before' for programmatic use - refer here.
The following successfully sets the initial value parameter of the Step block:
set_param(get_param(gcb,'Handle'),'Before','<value_to_be_set>');
%current block set to the Step block
