confused regarding scaling of axis for an array?

I have an array of 161*2 with one column1 as step size of 1 and corresponding values in another column. Now I want 10000 points for column 1 and also for intermediate values for column2?

He answered your second question - look up interp1.
For the first question, use markers in your plot string. For example to show the points as blue asterisks with lines between then, do this
plot(column2, 'b*-', 'LineWidth', 2);
grid on;

But even the largest of monitors won't have but ~2k resolution so what's the point? Only 1 of 5 points can possibly be shown separately. I few over the original, ok, I can see that, but the rest is overkill for no real purpose...
