displaying single slices in image stack

How can i display particular slices of my .tif image stack in Matlab. I have tried the line "imshow(I(:,:,:,300)", since i am assuming it is a 4D stack, but this does not work. I also tried reducing the number of dimensions.

When you imread() a .tiff file you only get one image.
The proper method of reading the other images depends upon whether you are working with multi-page images or subimages or if you just have multiple IFD entries.
