Filtering 50Hz frequency

Hi there,
Please could you give me a hint how I can eliminate the 50Hz frequency (electricity noise) from my eeg signals?
By FT? If so, how?

fft would be one method: fft the signal, find the bin that corresponds to 50 Hz, zero that entry (and its mirror) and ifft() back.
More commonly you would use a band-stop filter.
