Extract text from screenshot

I have a screenshot of a spectrum analyzer. In the middle of the screenshot is a value I would like to extract and save to a variable in my workspace.
I have already "cropped" the original image to just the portion containing the data i'm concerned with.
The screen shot will always have the same font, and the text will be in the same location, I feel like this simplifies the situation.
I also am trying to get around using any special commands in particular tool boxes (i.e., OCR).
Any guidance would be helpful. Thank you.
