Is it Matlab R2016 compatible with Mas OS X version 10.7.5?

I'm in a chemical engineering class control, I need to use matlab but I have a mac. Is the software compatible? My version of MAC OS X is 10.7.5

Lion is not really supported for R2016a but it is generally expected to work.
However, if you are at Lion, the implication might be that you are running a PowerPC based Mac. PowerPC cpus are not supported; R2007b was the last release supported on PowerPC
Alternately, you might be running an old device with one of the first generation Intel CPUs; those are not necessarily supported.

Lion is supported for R2014b. Matlab R2015a to R2016b are not supported anymore.
PowerPC technology is supported until MacOSX 10.5.8.
